In Alta Ribagorça are located the most important Romanesque churches dating back from the 11 th , 12 th and 13 th Centuries. There lies the most important concentration of the Romanesque art in Europe. They were built after the Northern Italian models. For this reason, UNESCO declared the Boi Valley World Heritage in 2000: Sant Clement and Santa Maria de Taull, Sant Joan de Boi, Sta. Eulàlia d'Erill la Vall, St. Feliu de Barruera, la Nativitat de Durro, Santa Maria de Cardet, l'Assumpció de Coll, and St. Quirc de Durro and Taüll hermitages.

In addition, the churches of Sta. Maria de Viu de Llevata and Mare de Deu de les Neus d'Irgo are of great importance too.

Unfortunately the ruins of the Lavaix Monastery cannot be admired as the lie under the water of the Escales Dam.
